If you're reading this you must be one of the growing number of people who are either already involved in or are seeking more information about western riding. The great news is that access to information and to western events has never been easier!

In these pages you'll find details and information about the Western Equestrian Society (WES) in Devon and what we offer. We'll be updating the site regularly and adding new material.  We'll also be providing regular updates on "Skooter's Blog", which tracks the training of a young western horse from being backed to going out to clinics and her first competition under-saddle.  We really hope you like what you see and will come back often!

The Western Equestrian Society (WES) is a national organisation formed in 1985 to promote the discipline of Western Riding.  The Society promotes the sport for enthusiasts at all levels, whether complete beginners or seasoned competitors.  You can enjoy all of our ridden activities with ANY breed of horse or pony. Members participate with Highland ponies, Welsh ponies and cobs, traditional cobs, Haflingers, Arabians and also the various western breeds. In fact, you name the breed and there’s probably a WES member out there riding it in a western saddle!

The WES in Devon group is a sub-group of WES Area 3, one of 13 Areas that cover the whole of the UK.  Area 3 also covers Cornwall, Somerset and Wiltshire.

If you like what you see on this website and decide to join WES, you can download a membership application form by clicking here. To access the national website click on the WES logo to the right.

WES in Devon also maintains a Facebook group so it's very easy for everyone to keep in touch with what's going on in the county and beyond!  So if you're on Facebook check out the "WES in Devon" group pages and come and join our growing network. Just click on the Facebook icon to the left and you'll find us!
