Why don't you join the WES Trail Riding Awards Scheme? After riding 250 hours you could earn this beautiful buckle made by Montana Silversmiths. It really is a great option for WES members who aren't so interested in taking part in competition. Even if you are, it's a great opportunity to keep track on your hours in the saddle just enjoying life with your horse or pony. Judy's signed up for the scheme and is logging her hours after every ride. They soon add up and also the promise of an award at the end of it really does encourage you to get in the saddle even on those horrible days!

The Trail Riding Award Scheme is open to members of the Society only and is very simple - any WES member who hacks out for pleasure in a western saddle can record their hours and qualify for an award. The horse does not have to belong to the rider but must be ridden in a western saddle.  The scheme is subject to a once only payment of £40. Participants receive a Log Book to record their hours spent hacking. Records must be submitted to the Society on an annual basis to verify your claim to an award.

Subject to ratification the following awards will be made:

  • 50 hours - members will receive a certificate
  • 75 hours - certificate
  • 150 hours - certificate
  • 250 hours - certificate plus inscribed Montana Silversmiths belt buckle
  • 500 hours - certificate plus option to purchase trail award merchandise
  • 1000 hours - certificate plus option to purchase trail award jacket

Once you achieve 1000 hours you will also receive 1 year free membership to the Society!

So what are you waiting for? Go on - sign up today. Here's the letter that includes everything you need to know. It really is worth doing and offers great value for money.
